Reiki Informed Consent Form

Reiki Informed Consent FormEveryone should be able to make educated decisions about their health. Medical procedures can be invasive, so patients should be able to ultimately determine from the facts about risks, how their bodies will be treated. So, before medical professionals can treat patients, they need to receive the so-called informed consent.

A patient’s informed consent can be a legally binding condition under which a patient is provided with detailed information about his or her physical state and the treatment suggested by the acting physician. Once this information is received patients must give the doctor their consent to treat prior to any form of treatment is given. Without the patient’s informed consent, a health care provider cannot provide treatments.

Decision Making Capacity

In some instances patients lack the ability to comprehend the options for treatment and the benefits and risks associated with each. In other situations patients may not be able to explain their decisions to health care professionals. If this happens patients are said not to possess the proper decision making capacity. An individual from the family or court appointed representative can provide informed consent instead.

Patients who are greatly influenced by their emotions, like anxiety or fear, for instance can be deemed to not having the capacity for decision-making. Patients who are in the state of unconscious cannot take decisions on their own. Therefore, outside parties must provide consent for treatment instead.
